Q: What format do the articles come in?
A: The articles are shipped to your paper on CD Rom. They
are formatted in both a MS Word and a simple text file that can be
imported into any page layout software. The photographs are in a
tiff, jpeg or PDF file that can be imported into any Macintosh or PC
page setup software. These formats are the most universal for use in
page layout. Whether your paper is published in broadsheet, tabloid
or signature size you can format the text to flow into your unique
size for special sections. Contact Publishers-Edge now by e-mail
sections@Publishers-Edge.com or click on the link at the bottom of
this page to order on-line.
Q: Are the articles appropriate for the southern United States?
A: Most of the sections are appropriate for all areas of
the United States. Some such as Home Improvement, Lawn & Garden and
Winter Car Care have articles that are more appropriate for the
northern and central areas of the US. We have included some articles
in these sections that are specific to southern US states. Of
course, there isn’t much we can do with the Snowmobile & Ski
vacation section. Snowmobiling is not very good in Florida. Contact

Q: Are the articles appropriate for Canada?
A: Most of the articles in all sections are appropriate
for areas of Canada and the United States. Some articles refer to
companies or government agencies that are only available in the
United States. We can design a version of each Special Section
specifically for Canada that eliminates those references and refers
instead to the appropriate agencies or companies in Canada.
Reference to dollars can be converted to Canadian dollars. It is
important when the orders are placed to indicate whether your paper
is located in the US or Canada. The pre-designed version of the
Special Sections use the US version. Contact Publishers-Edge now by

Q: What if I want to produce my special section in a different
format than your pre-designed version?
A: No problem. Most papers have their own idea of what
works best for them in formatting a special section. We produce a
pre-formatted electronic version set to print on 28 inch newsprint
in tabloid size. The image area is 103/8 “ by 13”. This doesn’t
match what all papers use but nothing else will either. Newspapers
and shopping guides across the US and Canada publish their sections
in many various formats from broadsheet to signature size. This
pre-designed version is formatted to give the advertiser an idea of
what the section will be like and help them make the decision to buy
advertising. The articles are formatted in a MS Word and plain text
version your layout and design people can format as you wish.

Q: Tell me about the Added Value Features to Publishers-Edge
Special Section Syndicate.
A: We have included three extra features to our Special
Section Syndicate to help your salespeople sell more advertising.
1) - We will send you a pre-designed version of each section with
the ad space already plugged in. Print these pages on your laser
printer and your salespeople can simply walk into a customer and ask
“Which space do you want?”
2) - We will send you a list of business market segments that should
be primary target accounts for each section. Your sales force can
use this information to focus on these businesses to generate
additional revenues for every special section you publish.
3) - We have written sales scripts you can use both in Display Sales
and Telemarketing. We have also written a benefit/value package for
each special section we sell. After more than 20 years of selling
advertising we have added the features to special sections that we
always wished we had access to. Our goal is to help you sell more
advertising in your special sections. We are more than just a
special section syndicate. We are a partner that is determined to
help you increase revenues through selling special sections.

Q: Tell me a little more about the Sales Scripts.
A: After more than 20 years of sales, sales training and
publishing we have designed some sales scripts that help your
salespeople overcome the objections they hear while selling special
sections. We have designed a sales approach that instills confidence
in your sales force and helps them prepare to close the sale. When
they are confident about a special section they have much better
success selling advertising. We have written sales scripts that can
be used both on the telephone and face-to-face with the advertiser.

Q: Why should I buy my sections from you instead of an old
standby service?
A: Good question. We offer many of the typical sections you can find with the other special section syndicates but we have also created some NEW sections that are hard to find. We have also added the extras to improve your revenues. Those extra features will result in your salespeople selling more advertising. That is the main difference, extra revenue for your paper. We have come from the publishing business doing what you do every day. We know what it takes to produce good quality special sections and how important it is to your bottom line that those sections are profitable. We see our role as a partner with your newspaper and shopping guide and we will work hard to improve your special section revenues.
